What should I do if my MacBook cannot charge?

There are many possibilities when a MacBook cannot charge. Before handing it over to a technician for repair, you can try the following basic resets and possible solutions:

1. Check MagSafe and USB-C charger issues: Make sure the charger is properly plugged in and connected to power. You can try testing the charger with another MacBook that uses the same type of charger.

2. Bad contact on the charging plug and MacBook charging connector: Make sure there are no debris, dust and corrosion on the charging plug and MacBook charging connector.

3. Battery overheating: MacBook may stop charging for safety reason and extending battery lifespan.

4. Battery level (State-of-charge) over 93%: MacBook may stop charging for extending battery lifespan.

5. Battery level (State-of-charge) over 80% and Optimized Battery Charging is turned on: MacBook may stop charging for extending battery lifespan.

If the MacBook is confirmed faulty, the actual problem could be:

1. Damaged charging connector of the MacBook: Replace charging connector.

2. Damaged charging part on the logic board of the MacBook: Repair logic board.

3. Damaged battery: Replace battery.
